Refashion: Bird skirt

Starting the year with a refashion, I thrifted this corduroy dress because I thought the print was unique and perfect for the winter. I am working on a tutorial on how to sew a waistband, it will be up soon. I thought the sweater would go perfect with the outfit, it's a bit scratchy because it's wool but I really liked the birds print. Here are the before and after pictures.

I love that you pretty much just use the thrift store as your own little super discount fabric store - that print is darling!

Chic on the Cheap

Thanks ladies! Yes Lyddie sometimes it's cheaper to get the fabric at the thrift store, for instance that dress was about $2 bucks while at the fabric store it would have costed me $7+ to get the fabric for the skirt. Also I find some unique prints that are hard to find at the fabric store. =)

I look forward to the waistband tutorial. I've noticed that you often add or change a waistband on your refashions and I haven't figured out how to do that myself yet, especially if there's a zipper involved.

I love your sweater! I have one very much like it with ducks on it. I love, love, love wool so scratchiness is not an issue for me. :o)
