Pink & pastels

Hi everyone! I'm back, this is what I wore to work this week before my internet stopped working. I can't wait for the weather to get cooler so I can wear some of my refashioned clothes and thrifted finds. September was definitely my month in all aspects of my life and I'm loving my Pre-K class more than I thought I would! I'm less stressed about testing and I have a wonderful assistant, I could go on and on about the good things, all I know is I'm truly blessed.

At war against a cold

I've spent this week battling a bad cold, there are only so many student sneezes we can take before our immune system finally throws in the towel. Yesterday I had to take the day off because my voice was completely gone, today I can finally talk again but I still feel very drowsy. I tried going to the staff development day (no school for students today) but only made it through half day before everything started going downhill again. Bummer, I had big plans to celebrate my birthday this weekend. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Sunday Best: Dress to skirt refashion

I bought this dress at the thrift store because I loved the print, as soon as I saw it I thought "this would make a great skirt!" After I got home from the thrift store I got to work on it. I had to cut the top off into small pieces and sew them together to make the waistband but the result was great, here are the before an after pictures.
Before
When things fit me at the waist they're always big on the bust or hips.
After
This is how I wore it to church today.
I'm not a fan of fake stuff but I found these earrings at the thrift store (new) and I thought they were cute, maybe one day I'll be able to afford the real thing.
I love my thrifted bracelet, not only does it have my initial but it's got a cute locket too, I put a baby picture of my son.

TGIF

I feel like the last two weeks have flown by, I think it's because I've been very busy. I'm so glad it's Friday, I need to rest and catch up on some CSI episodes, plans for the weekend include...pure laziness. =)

Not so sweet days

This is the face of a tired teacher, what a day! First we caught a little boy sucking on a quarter his mother had given him. Later Mr. Little (the one I wanted to put in my pocket and take home) decided to punch someone in the stomach, so during recess he got time out, while sitting at the metal bench he got two fingers stuck in the bench holes and we couldn't get them out because his fingers got swollen. My heart was pounding, I thought we were going to have to cut the bench to get his fingers out (which were turning purple) fortunately the school nurse brought some ice that I put on his fingers and it worked, his fingers came out unharmed. I'm so glad both little guys went home unharmed and I'm glad this day is over.

Sunday Best: Top gun

Heads up ladies, if there is a time to start shopping for great winter coats its between the months of September and October, when it's still too hot to think about winter clothes, and people are more worried about buying Halloween costumes. Yesterday I found a great vintage coat for only $6.59, can't pass up a deal like that. This is what I wore to church today. Have a great labor day weekend!
