Hi ladies! So I finally got to wear this dress I refashioned over the summer. I was inspired by this dress (I don't remember which designer it's from).
I bought this velvet dress at the thrift store and thought I could make it work. It was a very easy refashion, all I did was remove the collar, cut and hem it and I also took in on the sides, I decided to make it an A-line dress instead of an empire waist. Then I added the buttons and I pinned one of my vintage peter pan collars. I liked the end result, it reminds me of Wednesday Addams but I'm okay with that.
Before
After
Worn to church today.
Dress: refashioned by me
Coat: vintage/ altered by me
Shoes: Salvatore Ferragamo

It turned out amazing - so sweet! It's unrecognizable from the original!

Thank you so much! =)
Huge difference! Better difference! And it reminisces Wednesday Adams but in no way, shape, or form do you look like her!
Oh my ... I have a black dress in my closet that is calling for an urgent refashion. Please allow me to copy this idea ... Beautiful blog! Blessings.
well it's pretty darn cute - and as always you are so talented to see the potential in that oversized dress.
Chic on the Cheap
Shey, your alteration skills are so fabulous! I can't tell from the photos (it's like when I try to capture my black cat!) but did you have to make a bodice with darts and everything? Outstanding and the collar is perfect! So pretty!
Thank you Mary, I didn't make any darts or a bodice, I'm only a beginner in sewing skills so I can't make darts yet. =)
I like this refashion very fashion forward. Beautiful!
WOW!!! The before/after amazed me! You are GOOD!!!
