I bought this dress at the thrift store because I loved the print, as soon as I saw it I thought "this would make a great skirt!" After I got home from the thrift store I got to work on it. I had to cut the top off into small pieces and sew them together to make the waistband but the result was great, here are the before an after pictures.
Before
When things fit me at the waist they're always big on the bust or hips.

After
This is how I wore it to church today.
I'm not a fan of fake stuff but I found these earrings at the thrift store (new) and I thought they were cute, maybe one day I'll be able to afford the real thing.
I love my thrifted bracelet, not only does it have my initial but it's got a cute locket too, I put a baby picture of my son.
Top: F21
Silk bag: Local vintage shop
Shoes: thrifted
Bracelet: thrifted
(fake) Chanel earrings: thrifted

You look lovely as usual!
Really pretty. I wish I had your eye and talent with a needle and thread! Love the little rose bag too.
That's a great refashion!
So much nicer as a skirt. Wondering how you did your new waist? Elastic? Or did you use interfacing or zip?
Great job, dear Shey.

Erica I did use interfacing and a zipper and button in the back. =)
I have followed your style blog for a few months now. This is the first time I've written a comment. I wanted to tell you that you've inspired me to get back to sewing. I've sewn over a dozen shift dresses in the past few months. I love dresses because they're so easy to accessorize--belts, jewelry, etc. I also got the idea from you to convert thrifted dresses into skirts. What an amazing idea! I've done it three times since reading your blog. As a fellow teacher (in Canada), I am continually inspired by your ideas.
Thank you!
Thank you so much Frenchie for taking the time to leave such kind comment, I'm grateful to you for following my blog. =)
Your hair looks great.
Adorable! The dress is so much cuter as a skirt.
I adore what you made with that skirt, so lovely and your new bracelet as well :)
You made such a cute skirt out of this not fitting dress, I may repeat myself, but I really wish I could sew like you and would have this creative part! I also like the chanel-fake earrings, well I heard that the "real" chanel jewellery is not very good quality and that the little stones keep falling of, so this fake may be quite a good alternative!

That dress made a lovely skirt!
