One problem I often have when I'm thrifting is that most vintage things I find are too small for me. That, however, doesn't stop me from buying it if I like it a lot and I can figure out a way to make it work. Today I was lucky to find this vintage belt, however it was too small for me, I tried sucking in my gut but still no luck, after much thought my creative light bulb went on and I got an idea on how to make this pretty belt fit me.
Here is the before...oh so tight.
First I took the loop off.
Then I got some canvas fabric I had around, measured and cut it to the width of the belt.
I ironed fusible interface to the canvas fabric for extra sturdiness. Here it is already stitched and ironed.
I put the end of the belt inside the extension.
Sewed it together...
I put the belt loop back on and sewed it closed.
And now I have a belt that fits.
Soon to be refashioned...
Stay tuned. ^_^

Chic on the Cheap
Wow I have to remember that belt idea!! Thank you! :)
Ok. i"m officially jealous of your skills. And happy too, because i didn't know one could do that with awesome (but too small) belts!
Clever, clever!
This is a fantastic tip with fabric belts. Have you ever tried something like this with leather belts? I'm not sure how to do that without the adjustment being shown. Great blog, BTW. I stumbled on it a few weeks ago.
