Parochial Girl

Today I took half day off from work because I had an appointment with my insurance adjustor, on my way home I stopped by the fabric store and got some green corduroy fabric for a skirt that I want to sew this weekend, I can't wait to show you what I have in mind. These last weeks have been pretty tough, being a mother of a pre-teen is not an easy task, teenage years are tough, or so I've heard. On the bright side at least my son gets in trouble at school for reading too much (yes, reading) and not for being defiant or mischievous, we just gotta work on turning in his work and not reading during lecture time. A lady at work gave me a compliment about my outfit, she said I looked like a parochial school girl.
Shirt: vintage/ thrifted
Belt: Gap/ thrifted
Pendant: vintage/ flea market
Skirt: ModCloth
Shoes: Dillards/ old
Sweater Jacket: Ralph Lauren
Scarf: Mexico

pre-teen! I have those years ahead of me I suppose. I just want my kids not to hate me too much during those years. i had a really turbulent relationship with my mother when i was a teenager and it has only just recently mended in the last 8 years or so. a LONG time to be grudging. Good luck Shey, and I agree reading too much is no crime.

My siblings and I always got into trouble for reading during chore time...we would take hours to clean a single bathroom- all of us would perch on the sink or tub and read away!

I love the belt with the skirt, so pretty!

I can't wait to see what you do with the corduroy. I love the preppy vibe of this look and it reminds me of my old school uniform in a good way.
And I was totally your son. My parents had to hide my books from me so I would do my homework. Jajajaja

Very cool outfit! I love the leopard belt with the plaid. And whatever color lipstick you have on is very flattering.

I found your blog through momomod and have really enjoyed all your thrifting finds. I'm a huge fan of thrift stores myself. :)

You look adorable in this, and I can't believe you are wearing all those layers! I thought it was still hot there? I'm wearing less and its 60°!

Chic on the Cheap

Yahoo for your son! I'm glad he's reading so much!
Turning in work is a tough one. I walk around and pick it up because our oldest son was not good at turning things in either!

Thanks everybody, Lyddie the temps did drop down a lot (yoo-hoo for me!).
Pompom I wish you were my son's teacher, I know sixth graders should learn to be responsible and turn in their work but there are always students like our children and it would make it much easier if teachers picked up the students work =D

Your a great mom so he will definitely turn out good. Teenager years aren't as horrible as people say or think.

I want that skirt and your belt. I have been on the search for a leopard calf hair belt. Overall this outfit looks wonderful on you!
