Sunday Best: Victorian Inspired

Hi ladies! I had a wonderful day at church today, there was help needed in the toddlers nursery because a few teachers were not able to go and I volunteered, my outfit was not very appropriate for a class full of 2-year olds but I don't have a problem sitting on the floor in my Sunday clothes. A little girl caressed my hair and I thought she was going to say she liked it but instead she sneezed on my face by accident, that was hilarious we both had a laugh about it after I wiped my face and told her next time she needs to cover her mouth. One little girl was very cranky, after a while she agreed to sit on my lap to listen to me read, then she fell asleep, I love when babies fall asleep in my arms. Ladies I loved working with the little ones today, hopefully I'll be able to help again! I had not worked with such young age group but they have such cute personalities and I was able to hug and kiss all of them.
I thrifted this 70's dress for $7 dollars, I usually stay away from anything 70's because I am not a fan of 70's fashion, however this dress is so pretty, I wanted to go for a Victorian-inspired look so I threw in the refashioned pearl necklace and braided my hair all around the nape of my head. I wore boots because it's chilly outside, I love cold weather!
Dress: vintage/ thrifted
Belt: F21
Necklace: refashioned by me
Boots: Charles Davis

I love this outfit, Shey! I'm a huge 70's clothing fan, and I must that that dress is gorgeous. And what a steal! It goes perfectly with your boots.

I really love the belt and boots, and I admire your ability to handle little kids. I dont think i could recover from a sneeze in the face very quickly.

I used to say that I was not a fan of the 70s, but now I think it wasn't bad. It's definitely not my look to be 70s, but you can find some really fun 70s designs like what you have on! That is a pretty dress.

I think little girls should see more women dressed in modest dresses like yours, so don't feel bad that you wore it! I know it's not the easiest outfit to have on when you're working with children, but I think that they should be inspired by that.

Thank you ladies, Mrs. J. I actually don't like Spring that much, except for the bright colors that one can pull off, but other than that it's allergy season for me and windy days make it hard to wear a full skirt which are my favorite, but I can tolerate it better than Summer.

Your hair looks so, so pretty! I love the 70s look on others, but it doesn't work so well for me. I have to say that your dress doesn't scream 70s to me. I like it!

Shey, I just found your blog and I really love your style. I am also trying to dress more modestly. Right now the only time I wear a dress or skirt is to church. But I feel that I need to change that. Looking at your blog and how you put colors and pattern together, along with the tutorials is really helping me see that I can do this too. Thank you so much. Looking forward to seeing more!

Shey, the dress is wonderful, just stunning. I love the boots with it, too. And I love a kitty on the window, but that goes without saying. :)

Argh! That dress! Perfect! There are some really pretty 70s prints out there, and I'm glad you thrifted this one. I would totally snap it up, and it looks great with boots too. I liked your story of the sneezing toddler, I know what little girls are like, and they absolutely notice pretty things and are not shy of playing with your hair etc. So sweet. Take care! x (i have to catch up on your blog posts!)
