Hi ladies! I'm so excited about today's refashion! I thrifted this skirt last week because I loved the pink gingham pattern, reminded me of J.Crew's shirt (which I couldn't afford). For $1.50 it was worth the try so it came home with me. I thought of many ways to refashion this skirt and I was going to settle down for a simple hemming and then I thought "what about a scalloped hem?"
I had never done a scalloped hem and I was nervous about trying it and messing it up, so I made a little sample skirt for my cabbage patch doll and it came out alright, once I was convinced I could do it I went for it.
Here's the finished skirt, I"m in love with my new skirt it's so pretty even Anthropologie could be a little bit jealous of it
At the same place I also bought these shoes, they are the perfect Bass loafers that I had been looking for, I paid only $1.50 for them, they were dirty and full of cat hair and spider webs but I cleaned them real good with alcohol, to think I almost paid $100 bucks for a similar pair that made my feet look wide and chunky.

Preciosas ambas faldas. Y preciosa la blusa con la florecilla en el cuello. Queda bien asà abrochado con el detalle de la flor.
The scallop hem is gorgeous!! I really need to learn how to sew/hem things. It opens up a whole new world of thrifting possibilities.
Wow, you've got sewing skillz! I've been practising scalloped hems on scrap fabric, but I'm not good enough to attempt it on a garment yet.
OH
MY
GOSH
absolutely adorable! I am completely envious of your skills.
Oh I love the scallops! So pretty and unique!
Thank you all! Scallops are actually pretty easy to make but it takes time to get them right, I was very careful of not making any mistakes when I did them on my skirt, ironing and stitching by hand so that the scallops would look nice.
ooh i love how you've done it :)
That is beautiful! I've always meant to try a scallop hem too but it makes me nervous! I'll have to just pull something cheap from the mending pile and give it a whirl!
Wow, the scallops are amazing! I must try something similar, too!
Shey I love love love it! Its definately not something everyone wears and I love that and its beautiful! great refashion! your ideas are inspiring. I have a thrifted dress I want to refashion soon. Pictures hopefully when I get to it! :)
The first thing I said when I saw this post was "ew!" Then I scrolled down, "cute!!!"
SKILLZ! I'm so impessed by that refashion - probably my favorite of all you've done.
We're going to be here three years. I'm hoping things will level off soon as far as my weight. I'm not trying to lose, I'm just doing a lot more exercise and eating Costa Rican sized portions. :/
Adorable! Great job!
And how cute is your new header!? I use google reader now, so maybe its not so new haha
Yay, it is so cute!! You know how smitten I am with scalloped hems, and yours looks perfect!
