Sunday Best: Denim Jacket

It's the first time I wear denim on Sunday, I was going to wear a lace jacket but the outfit seemed to serious, it didn't go with my ironed hair.  I wanted something that would be comfortable and not too dressy, so I went for my denim jacket.
Yesterday we went to the lake, it was a nice place but I
m definitely not an outside person.

Shoe Refashion # 4

Once more I will do another shoe refashion. This time my shoe refashion is inspired by these flats from J. Crew, aren't they lovelly?
Well I had a simple pair of nude flats that I bought before my shopping diet, even though I liked them they were a bit meh...
These are the materials you need:
Pair of flat shoes (or any other type of shoe you want to paint)
Spray paint of the color you choose
Tape
Plastic bags
Scissors
I chose a glossy finish paint since my shoes have a bit of shine to them.
I started to make small cuts to the tape in order to open the tape to do a curved line.
Once the tape is cut tape to shoe, make sure there are no holes through which the paint can go.
Add some tape to the sole in case it's a different color than your paint.
Wrap the bag around the shoes and tape it in place. This is how it will look front and back.
Take outside and spray!
Spray!
And don't forget the sides I checked mine and they still needed a coat of paint (glad I caught that on time).
After 10-15 minutes carefully remove the tape, if some paint got into the shoe you can use a nail file to carefully scrape off the excess paint.
Now you have a great looking pair of shoes!

What should I call this?

Ladies, today I'm feeling wild and bright! (and happy). First, I wanted to mention why I haven't shown my finds on the blog, well I'm not the only one on a shopping diet, so is Lyddie, Waves, Andrea, Frances and who knows how many other beauties are struggling through a shopping diet. I thought if I keep posting my awesome finds it would not be helping them because it's like posting candy in front of a hungry child. When I see great stuff on blogs I immediately feel the urge to go and buy something wonderful myself.
Okay here's another refashioning, I thrifted this skirt because I like the color and it was already a full skirt so the refashioning part was going to be easy. It was pretty tight (I could barely breathe). You can always refashion clothes you already have, make something new out of old stuff.
I have to chop of my face because it was so shiny from sweat (and yes I love to run) hehe.
Something totally new, I usually stay with softer palettes but I love blue and red together.
I call this the conquer of the purse.
My tiger-zebra purse.

DYI shoe clips

Ladies get you handy-dandy notebook (oh I used to have a secret crush on Steve from Blue's Clues because he was so sweet with the kids) okay lets start working! Today I have a tutorial for shoe clips. I bought these earrings at a garage sale and I was going to make them into a sweater clip but then I changed my mind and thought they would look cuter as shoe clips.
Materials needed
Earrings
glue gun/ glue
clips from old clip on earrings or ugly shoe clips
a little piece of felt or orther fabric
plyers

When I worked on my booties I suddenly noticed the shoe clips in my jewerly junk baggie, both shoe clips were missing their pair so I decided to use the clips to make a new pair.

Carefully pull out the clips from the old shoe clips using the plyers.
Here are shoe clips.
These are the earrings.
With the plyers bend the back of the earring (I tried pulling it off but I couldn't).
Here's the back of the earring all bent.
Now you are ready to glue.
Put some hot glue on the back of the earring.
Place the clip on top (be careful not to burn yourself!).
Add glue to the piece of fabric, preferably the same color as your earring.
Carefully place the fabric in between the clip.
Repeat procedure with the other earring.
Here is the back of the finished clips...
Clip them to your shoes and take them for a ride!
You can get these clips at any craft store or if you prefer the cheap way reuse things from jewelry you might already have!

Girl scout looks like boy scout

Hi ladies, I am so happy because I slept like a baby last night. I woke up late and I feel well rested. I thought I was going to have a hard time falling asleep but after 15 or 20 minutes tossing around I was in dream land. It feels so good to get a good night sleep. This morning I did my daily blog checking and I was totally in love with this boy's outfit from Style Clicker. Very simple and cool, today's forecast will be 110 F! I'm staying inside for the most part.
See? we look like twinsies! I added a flower to my shirt because a girl has to look prettier! ^_^
Hope everyone has a delightful day!

Shoe Refashion # 3 Booties

Hi ladies! I'm going to have such a hard time getting back to my sleeping schedule, last night I slept from 12 a.m to 3 a.m. thanks to little Mr. Cricket who decided to come uninvited to my room and with no shame made noise and hopped on my foot! Yikes! I almost jumped to the roof (insects scare me). I ran to turn on the light and killed that little booger, but I still couldn't fall asleep. Got up at 7:30 a.m., drove my son to the babysitter (half asleep) and then off to a training only to realize that I could not get credit for it! So I went back home. Thank God this day is over! =)

Enough rambling, let's go on to the shoe refashioning. Remember these booties I thrifted?
Well I wanted these:

Oh, they are gorgeous! But I'm on a budget and I don't want to quit shopping just to save for these very high booties I won't be able to walk in. So I worked with what I had, the booties I thrifted have the perfect heel for work and are very comfortable.

Materials needed:
booties
plyers
metal chains (various types)
metal clasps
needle and thread
I bought these chains at Hobby Lobby, they were 50% off and I had some I'd bought at a garage sale.
The clasps and rings I had in my crafts basket.
First I calculated the length I was going to use for the chains around the bootie.
I pulled the chains apart (some I could pull apart with my hands and others I had to use the plyers).
I had different length chains, 2 sets (one for each bootie).
Oops! I forgot to take a picture of when I joined all the chains on the ring and on to the clasp!
By the way I added the clasp so that I can comfortably put the bootie on.
Once all the chains were joined I sewed the chains in place (I didn't want them falling off or rotating around the bootie).
Here's the end result.
Sorry about the bad quality pictures, I did this at night.
I think I'm going to add a black ribbon bow at the back (but I'm out of black ribbon right now).
Very easy to do! I can't wait for Fall to wear them.
Other shoe refashions I did are here and here.
I have a few more tutorials coming soon! I want to finish all my projects before school starts.
Also I was honored to do a guest post for the beautiful Nina at All Tumble Down: A modest Attempt at style, come check it out!

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

Hi beautiful ladies, hope you all had a great weekend! There's something ing the air (probably pollen) and yesterday my allergies attacked me, I felt pretty sick all day and I'm still recovering.
I'm off to have lunch with my son today and then maybe a trip to his favorite bookstore (B&N).

Heading to the lake

Well ladies, one of the things I dislike the most is being outside when it's over a 100 degrees, but the boy (no, really the boy my son) wants to go swimming and I don't want to spend another day in the house. So we are going to the lake. I'm taking plenty of books, water to drink, snacks, sunscreen, umbrella, and comfy cotton clothes. Three more weeks and I'll be going bakc to work!

Skirt/ shirt/ sandals: thrifted
Vintage hat: garage sale
