An outfit that almost didn't make it

Hello lovely ladies! For some reason my brain woke up at 5:30 a.m. today and then I could not fall asleep again, I listened quietly to the rain and turned and tossed until finally my stomach started growling, I ate breakfast with lots of fiber (much needed for those of us who are over 30) and then after a few minutes of trying to convince myself to stay home I headed to the gym.
Remember yesterday my "window shopping"? well I didn't just window shop, I bought this headband at Ross for $3.99.
Since it's raining the slip is back...and falling out (not on purpose) =P

Sunday best: Upcycled green

Today is a great day! Today's outfit is green, not only in color but the fabric is recycled, it was an 80's dress with a big bow in the back and black velvet on the top and of course big, puffy sleeves. I liked the forest green fabric, I had seen a blue skirt with this type of fabric at J. Crew some time ago and I really liked it but of course I couldn't afford it, so I made my skirt. I also wore my crazy hat and to tone the outfit down I wore simple velvet flats and a white crisp shirt.
Outfit Details: everything thrifted except hat
Skirt: made by me from 80's dress

Polka dots and linen

Hi there pretty ladies, I hope  you all are keeping cool! Yesterday it was 101 Fahrenheit, pretty hot! Today it's going to be pretty much the same so I'm trying to stay as cool as I can, drinking lots of water, keeping the hair up and wearing fabrics that are breathable, cotton and linen are the best fabrics, nylon is another good option and from what I read polyester is the worst. Today I'm wearing a linen shirt and a cotton skirt.
I really like today's outfit, I love my "Minnie Mouse" skirt as my students called it but it's kind of hard to style it without looking like Minnie Mouse...
The belt has a turtle buckle, it's missing a stone but one of these days I'll replace it.

Sunday best: Double denim

Last night I got a call from the group leader telling we had to help cook for today's lunch after church's service. She told told me to dress comfortable. So the outfit I had planned to today will have to wait for next Sunday. I just thrifted this skirt yesterday so I thought it would be great for the day and I had really wanted to try the double denim look.
Yeap, I'm ready to work!

My new old skirt: plaid

So yesterday after school I wanted to  relax so I went thrifting. I thought that because people have been busy with graduations many would not have time to thrift so the thrift stores would probably be filled with goodies (yes, that is how my mind works). Well I wasn't so right because when I went to my favorite thrift store they almost didn't have any skirts left! I set a time frame of one hour only (I can spend up to 3 hours in there!).
Outfit details:
Vintage skirt: thrifted / tailored by me
Shirt: United Colors of Benneton / garage sale
Shoes: Gianni Bini
Vintage bag: garage sale

Total lack of sleep and another floral skirt to help me through the day

Well ladies, this is it, today is the last say of school. I could barely close my eyes last night, more than excitement was the worrying about the things on the end-of-year list. Anyways, today I won't worry about that, I will play games, color, cut and paste, and hug my kiddos some for the last time as they will move to other schools. Today will be all about playing and having fun, just like my skirt!=)
