Okay ladies as promised here is the tutorial I wanted to share with you! I've been hunting for sweater clips at estate sales and thrift stores for a long time with no luck...and then my lightbulb went on! I decided to make my own and you can do it too!
Here's what you need:
clip earrings
pearl necklace
glue gun
plyers
a bit of ribbon or other fabric
Here's what you need:
clip earrings
pearl necklace
glue gun
plyers
a bit of ribbon or other fabric
Here are the materials I used except the plyers which I forgot to get in the picture.
Calculate the length you want for the pearl chain.
Pull apart pearl necklace with plyers.
You end up with two separate chains of unequal length (to have a drapey effect).
Open the clip earring and put a bit of hot glue.
Press the end of the pearl chains to the glue and cover with a bit of fabric (preferably the same color as your clip earring but I didn't have any gold ribbon). Be careful not to burn yourself!
Do the same thing with the other clip earring.
Glue chain ends and cover.
Voila! You have a "new" vintage sweater clip!
Don't feel limited to clip on earrings, you can use regular earrings, buttons, etc. You can also use regular chains instead of pearls your options are unlimited! I actually used these clip on earrings because they close pretty tight and can hold two ends without sliding down, but you can also use the alligator clips which they sell at craft stores.
Hope you liked this little tutorial!

Great sweater clip! That is gorgeous!
You are so amazingly creative! Love this. I've been on the hunt for sweater clips (you know how a flying-open cardigan can compromise modesty pretty easily), maybe I'll make my own!
